Idea

From utopia to dystopia, SYFY has imagined the future in all its forms for over 15 years. But what if fiction became reality?

In the event that science-fiction knowledge might one day be threatened, SYFY took on the mission of finding the world’s biggest SF fan in order to turn them into the eternal memory of the genre.

Eternity as the ultimate prize

Once crowned, the Chosen One would have his entire SF knowledge uploaded to the blockchain to ensure that it remains available to future generations… forever.

A Guardian standing in the way

But the road that leads to glory is full of peril. Those who aspired to the title of SF champion had to face the Guardian: a supreme entity who relentlessly submitted them to thousands of riddles in order to test their SF knowledge.

Execution

The immersion of users in the world of the Guardian was made possible thanks to a powerful and uncompromising mechanism (any mistake would return users to the start of the game), a special focus on sound design, and the use of several cutting-edge web technologies (webGL, React.js, cloud infrastructure). In total, close to 10 creatives and engineers contributed to the development of the project, which was produced in several languages in order to be accessible worldwide.
