OVERVIEW

Execution

Our strategy is to portray traditional crafts as being in line with the times. We first formed a conglomerate of six craft makers and organize them as brilliant creators made it easier to get media coverage. We also employed stylish names and ad designs. Then, we utilized time-honored skills to create new products with a contemporary appeal. For instance, Nishijin textiles used to make kimono belts were refashioned into fabrics for modern furniture and leading fashions. And wire netting technique for making kitchen utensils was utilized to create lampshades for innovative interiors.

Outcome

As a result of this project, we continually receive orders from royalty and world famous celebrities and sales increased 30% over the previous year. Also, college graduates now seek employment at each craft maker and most of them got their job and started their career as the next generation of Kyoto”s craftsmen.

Additionally, we were flooded with collaboration offers from creators the world over.
