OVERVIEW

Background

Up to 2 million people in the United States suffer from chronic hepatitis B. The disease usually manifests in a person’s mid-twenties and lasts a lifetime. Although it can be asymptomatic for long stretches of time, chronic hep B can also silently progress to deadly cirrhosis and liver cancer.

Execution

Despite the fact that 1 in 4 people with chronic hepatitis B may die from it, many patients are still in denial about the realities of their disease. Fear tactics from previous campaigns only helped further that denial, so we tried a sweeter approach—only to prove that there’s no pleasant way to talk about the dangers of hep B.

In “Boy Band,” the newest single is available from the hottest boy band in town, and it’s all about the finding the one. With silky smooth vocal runs, each crooner professes his love for his one and only. What soon becomes apparent is that their one and only also happens to be the 1 in 4 people who is going to die—but the show must go on.
