Description
Mother’s Day is a time when children share their sweetest, most loving words with the mom. But if you’re a mom of an HBO star, hearing sweet words out of the mouth of your child isn’t something you’re used to. Because if you’re an actor on HBO, odds are you’re going to be delivering lines with the most hilariously profane and explicit language imaginable. So on Mother’s Day, the mom’s get their moment, repeating all the uncomfortable lines they’ve had to listen to their children say over the years. In the end, the moms finally get to hear the one ‘line’ they actually want to hear delivered from their kids: “Happy Mother's Day.”
Execution
All scenes in the spot were shot in the real homes of the mothers over the course of a few weeks. And HBO stars filmed their own personal messages for their mothers over the same period of time. Launched online and via HBO social channels on the Friday before Mother’s Day and running through the weekend, the spot kicked off a weekend of celebrating mother’s in only the way HBO can.
Outcome
This campaign garnered 113M impressions and was met with high praise from publications including Entertainment Weekly, Refinery29, Hello Giggles, Fast Company and more.
