Description

‘Honda 3D Design Archive’ is the attempt to co-create a new concept model with the customers by sharing with them the 3D data of concept models Honda has introduced in the past. The users are allowed to modify and share their works under Creative Commons license. In the new era of manufacturing brought by the advancement of technology, like internet and affordable 3D printers, the customers are no longer treated as ‘users’ but ‘co-creators’.

Execution

In January 28, 2014, the press release was globally published and the website was launched.

From March 20th to the 23rd in 2014, the Honda 3D Archive event was held at the 1st floor of Honda headquarter in Tokyo.

In March 31, 2014, an additional concept datas ( U3-X / MOTOR COMPO ) were released on the website.

Outcome

The film became the official opening movie for Tokyo Motor Show 2013, and achieved a great recognition among the journalists from all over the world. Not only that but also Honda fans around the world started to ‘talk’ about the film on social media.

With success of this film, we have been working on the project to unveil the 3D printing data of the ‘Fictional Concept Cars’.
