OVERVIEW

Background

Audience: Healthcare professionals: Diabetes specialists who prescribe basal-bolus treatment. They only see their type 2 diabetes patients in clinic and are not always aware of the complexities of their prescribed medications and the impact on daily life.

Execution

The interview and filming of Stephen was done remotely during lockdown in Scotland, directed using coloured lighting to match the planned CGI. The production was directed and produced by our agency in the northern hemisphere and produced in very close collaboration with the production company in the southern hemisphere. The film was created under very tight timelines and relatively low budget, so each stage was carefully planned. The ceramic tiles were built first using cardboard and normal playing cards, filmed on an iPhone to make briefing easier. The 3D animatic was developed to refine the motion and gain medical approval. Some overly dramatic scenes were changed due to regulations as they showed the patient in too much danger. The Novo Nordisk branded blue lighting and quirky illustrations were meticulously planned, placed and refined, mostly produced in AfterEffects post 3D rendering. The sound design was intrinsic and created during the process.
