OVERVIEW

Description

The Hugo Boss Prize, worth $50,000, was established six years ago in co-operation with the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum. The prize is awarded by an international jury of museum curators, art critics and collectors to artists whose life work has made a significant contribution to contemporary art. The Web site focuses on the six nominated artists. There will be a profile of each nominee, including their biography and the work submitted for the prize. Works will also be featured that have been specially created for the site by each of the artists. To provide Internet users with more insight into each artist’s personality, the site includes artist “statements”: The artists have been given a digital video camera and a Polaroid camera, along with a list of questions to help them introduce themselves and their work. The results will be published step-by-step on the Web site. Users can also find additional information on the Hugo Boss Prize, ranging from general background on the judges, the history of the prize, and interviews with leading figures from the art world, to pictures of the trophy.
