OVERVIEW

Description

Litago is Norway's largest milk shake brand. An essential part of Litago's branding lies on the Litago Cow, which can be seen on all Litago Products.

For this campaign we wanted to put the Litago Cow in focus, and let the consumer take full control over it. And because Litago Milk Shake must be shaken for twenty seconds before drinking, we came up with Cow Rodeo Live: The world's first application controlled rodeo bull. The objective for this job was to stimulate sales of milk shake in campus cafeterias by visiting universities and colleges all over Norway. We designed a Mechanical Rodeo Bull, or actually cow. Then we programmed an app turning phones into cow controllers - making the rodeo a two-player game.Using the phones accelerometers the app controlled the rodeo cow movements. Everybody in the campus area could now download it, log in to a digital line and challenge a friend. One became the rider, the other the controller. One shakes the phone around the other is shaken off.

Students that stays on the back of the cow for twenty seconds wins a milk shake, if falling of, the one shaking the phones wins it – and Litago as a brand wins both of them! The insight is that the more the target audience play with our brand the more they buy. If we got them to play with it in campus would that directly increase the sales in the cafeterias? Of course! The Litago Cow Rodeo Live Tour generated sales records at campus cafeterias all over Norway. The rides was captured and posted on Youtube. Both rider and controller received the link directly in the app so they could spread the ride through social media. This, along with the PR, generated buzz around the brand, a nice added value to the event. The campaign was originally to end last autumn, but is still touring and is now up for Norways largest College gathering. Next autumn a new full scale University Tours is planned.

As a little bonus the worlds largest Rodeo Bull Company is now offering the app to their customers worldwide.

Execution

We designed a Mechanical Rodeo Bull, or actually cow. Then we programmed an app turning phones into cow controllers - making the rodeo a two-player game.Using the phones accelerometers the app controlled the rodeo cow movements. Everybody in the campus area could now download it, log in to a digital line and challenge a friend. One became the rider, the other the controller. One shakes the phone around the other is shaken off. Students that stays on the back of the cow for twenty seconds wins a milk shake, if falling of, the one shaking the phones wins it – and Litago as a brand wins both of them. The rides was captured and posted on YouTube. Both rider and controller received the link directly in the app so they could spread it through social media. This, along with the PR, also generated buzz around the brand.

Outcome

Would shaking the rodeo cow in campus directly increase the sales of milk shake in the cafeterias? Yes. As a direct result of the event sales records was set at campus cafeterias all over Norway. We wouldn't underestimate the results in Social Media either - Litago is now one of Norway’s largest Facebook pages, and has grown from 70' to 120 000 fans (consider that Norway has a total population of 5 millions).

As a bonus the worlds largest Rodeo Company is now offering the app to their customers.
