Overview

Background

In Mexico many single mothers go to work in low income jobs and the owners of the business or houses were they work as maids, don't let them bring their kids. And the Government is closing child day care centers as we speak, leaving this poor woman with a terrible choice. to tied the up so they can't get hurt. We wanted to shine a light this problems and get donations and the attention of the government.

The brief was to show this problem and make visible the terrible situation that mothers live and the terrible decisions they make by not having this support.

The scalability of this campaign is based on the use of media in social media, outdoor and print.

Idea

We created portraits of some of the children using the same thing that kept them tied: the ropes. We also used real photographs of some of the terrible cases that happened in Mexico as a reference, and we gave them to the renowned plastic artist Nneka Jones to recreate each feature of their faces and each expression with pieces of real rope. This symbol that kept them tied up became the canvas to make this problem known. We photographed the real portraits and the photos were used as press announcements and posters, to further the cause. These portraits were exhibited in exhibitions at the Museo del Niño in Mexico and will be auctioned to raise funds to keep raising awareness about this issue.

Execution

The elements that we use for the design of this campaign are parts of ropes with which children were tied to furniture. We did an artistic process with the Artist Neka Jones. Multi awarded with different projects. The process was to create these portraits of children using the strings, we dyed them, cut them and created these pieces.
