OVERVIEW

Description

These days, people buy new mobile phones as a trend, even when they don't have to.

Meanwhile there is another group of people who cannot even communicate with others.

As a telecommunications company, dtac wants everyone to have the ability to communicate. This project was originally intended as a charity project. Then we began to see the value of this undertaking for other Telenor Group networks and the benefit of hearing-impaired people in other countries.

So we created The Rebirth of Sound, a project that asks people to exchange their old mobile phones for new ones. We took some useable parts of them and transformed them into hearing aids for hearing-impaired people, which would improve the quality of their life.

We contacted a centre for the hearing-disabled in Nonthaburi to inform that we would like to donate hearing aids to those who couldn't afford.

We then asked the centre to help us select suitable candidates for our project. To this end, the centre provided us with details of people based on age, financial status and necessity.

After the selection was made, the chosen candidates would come to our centre and receive their hearing aids. Each candidate was then helped with the setting up the device, with out team adjusting volume control and other functions based upon each candidate’s condition.

Execution

We came up with the idea of giving the new mobile phones in exchange for the old ones. Then we will take and recycle usable parts of them.

Dtac recycles the useful useable parts of those old mobile phones like speakers, earphones and circuit boards that are still in good conditions and turned them into the hearing aids.

Outcome

Dtac, as a telecommunication company wants all of people to have the ability to communicate.

After launching this campaign in both offline and online media, there were a lot of people talking about this on social media. Moreover, this created a popularity among customers of about 30% more than we expected.

We hope this campaign will be a prototype project for Telenor Group to adopt, so it can be more useful in the future. This would hopefully mean that hearing-impaired people will get the ability to hear just like others.
