To commemorate the RAF centenary year, Royal Mail briefed us to create four stamps in a miniature sheet to celebrate the Red Arrows display team.

For the stamps we wanted to capture the excitement and diversity of the display, presenting aerial manoeuvres including the overhead flypast, as well as grouped and synchro displays.

Each stamp uses a different angle to show the incredible precision and skill of the pilots. The tension of the crops further heightens the awe and excitement. The signature British Summer blue sky background holds the stamps together as one continuous display whilst also completing the iconic red, white and blue colours synonymous with the Red Arrows.

For the miniature sheet border we created a dramatic crop of the RAF roundel on the side of the aircraft to celebrate the iconic colours of both the RAF and Red Arrows.

The Red Arrow stamps garnered much comment in both traditional and social media channels, quickly becoming a collector’s item.
