Description

Taking advantage of the target’s taste for temporary tattoos to show them at the beach during the summer, we created Repellent Tattoo, a temporary repellent tattoo made with a mix of Henna and Citronella, a natural oil that helps repel mosquitoes, including Aedes Aegypti, the mosquito that transmits Zika Virus.

We generated various designs based on the most wanted tattoo by our target (mandalas, chinese words, abstract shapes, etc.), and they all had a representative brand element.

The tattoos were offered on the most visited beaches during the summer in Costa Rica, to get one, you had to buy a Prepaid phone line or refill ¢2,000 to your Prepaid Claro Plan.

Execution

On April 16th we shared an online video on Facebook and Youtube to invite Costa Ricans to go to different beaches to enjoy the summer protected by our tattoos.

On very popular and visited beaches by Costa Ricans during the summer (Tamarindo, El Coco, Puntarenas, Jacó and Hermosa), we did 10 dates, from March 19th to April 2nd of 2016.

In the branded areas, we had music, beach activities and a tattoo stand where we did the Repellent Tattoos in exchange of buying a Prepaid Claro Plan or a refill of ¢2,000 on their Prepaid Plan.

Outcome

• More than 500 new Prepaid clients

• Prepaid refills of 15,000 minutes

• We were part of the conversation in international and national media.

• -0 reported cases of Zika in the period of the activation

• Hundreds of people enjoying the summer, by wearing our brands tattoos and not having to worry about mosquitoes.
