Replacing the cast from Rocky II with hundreds of new actors required painstaking research and truly innovative solutions in every part of production.

How fast and far did our actors need to run? None of this information existed, so we determined the length of the cars in the scenes and calculated how fast our hero talent ran. No existing motion control system could match the original camera move, heights, lens and speed, so we created a bespoke wirecam system that could achieve the speed. To ensure precision and repeatability of movements, we used CGI technical visualisation to drive the cameras and deliver the exact shots needed. We used a huge studio with enough space for the system to hit speed and to allow for the creation of a 1:1 scale replica of the famous steps. The new and old footage were then brought together with over 15,000 hours of post-production.
