Background
Saphan Mon, one of Thailand’s famous and highly visited tourist attraction became a ghost village due to COVID-19. Tourist dropped off entirely visiting the village. COVID not only affected the tourism industry badly in Thailand, it also shifted everything to online including hotel and tour bookings. Sadly, only 20% of Mon people in this village have access to internet and the entire village only has 1 Facebook page with 27 likes. This charming village and its unique culture may fast fade into oblivion if no one steps up to help them stand on their feet again.
Idea
SAPHAN MON POWERED BY dtac 700 MHz
We first powered up Saphan Mon’s Facebook page. We then turn the page into a hub of most authentic and charming virtual local tours, bringing Saphan Mon’s best tourist attractions and activities online.
We helped local villages who had no clue how to use Facebook to generate interesting content from live videos, to boost posts to retargeting to Facebook ads. All this was made possible with the power of dtac’s 700MHz signal deep into this village, empowering and changing old ways to new age e-marketing.
Strategy
If anything people miss the most during the past 2 years of COVID is travelling. Memories of travels are often re-visited and future trips even planned ahead. But how do we help this special village get itself into the minds of travelers? This is when we used the strength of dtac’s new 700MHz signal to power up the most authentic online tourist campaign to reconnect forgotten Saphan Mon with 70 million Thais online.

Outcome
It took only 1 week to get SAPHAN MON POWERED BY dtac 700 MHz’s Facebook Page on fire. By the second week of the campaign, SAPHAN MON’s homestays and resorts were fully booked for 7 months!
