Background

With iPhone* and Apple Watch** the number one devices in their respective categories in

Australia*, the long-awaited introduction of Apple Pay by Australia’s largest bank signaled a

major shift in the way people pay.

CommBank’s customers made it clear this is a service they want, particularly as it was expected

from a bank consistently rated the best mobile and digital banking experience, operating in a

market that is the global leader in contactless payments with over 99% of retailers accepting

Apple Pay***. To help mark the milestone moment the film celebrated the ease of the new

service and how more Australians than ever could now change the way they pay.

Execution

The film sets out to demonstrate an experience that feels completely different to what’s gone

before. No more waiting for change, keying pins or giving a signature - the way people pay has changed forever. The film sets out to amplify this feeling with an invitation into a world where we can live differently and move more freely; demonstrated by a group of friends on a night out at a bowling alley - a night where everything seems to have changed. Bowling shoe laces magically tie up, bowling balls appear to be light as air and items can be summoned to their hands. Their world is now as different and magical as, well, their new payment experience.
