Description

Bank of Melbourne is one of the small banks in town, but it is a bank with big aspirations, just like the city of its namesake. So, to help grow business around us we sought to establish ongoing relationships with the small business community.

Execution

At the start of the promotion we partnered with local cafes and exchanged their napkins for our $10,000 Napkins. Melbourne's budding entrepreneurs received these special napkins with their morning coffee hit, prompting them to sketch out their business plans. The $10,000 Napkin gave them a new medium to express their ideas, and once completed their handwritten plans were uploaded as part of the grant application.

Outcome

In terms of new acquisitions, 76% of grant applicants were customers of other banks, and 87% elected to grow their businesses with us in the future. Once all entries were assessed we awarded the top 1% of applicants with $10,000 grants to help their plans come to life. We successfully connected with the entrepreneurial community and established Bank of Melbourne as a business partner of innovation.
