Background

You can only tell people Bell pure fibre Internet is the world's fastest Internet technology so many times before they tune you out. We needed to stop speaking to their heads... and go for their guts.

And that’s when it hit us — Canadians know all about the advantages of pure fibre Internet, so we decided to flip the script and talk about its one big disadvantage: once you’ve been spoiled by Bell pure fibre Internet, using anything else isn’t just bad — it’s horrifying.

And so we decided to make a chilling double-feature of our very own: "The Horror", made up of our two screamfest features "The Rental" and "The Visitor".

“The Horror” shockingly demonstrates to Canadian audiences that Bell pure fibre Internet is so good… it’s scary.

Execution

In “The Visitor”, we enter a nightmare realm where a man is being pursued through his home by what he thinks is his greatest fear… until he is brought face-to-face with an even greater fear: he discovers his home has cable Internet. But just as his psyche cracks from the horror, he wakes up. It was all a horrible dream… or was it?

Outcome

In 2023, Canada saw a continued competitive landscape amongst Internet Service Providers, with an array of strategic network expansions, acquisitions, and pricing promotions. Bell maintained their leadership position owning 27% of market share, Rogers at 24% market share (after their acquisition of Shaw), followed by Telus at 11% (Statista, 2024).

Bell grew their retail high-speed Internet subscribers by 5% YoY (BCE Annual Report, 2023). Both TV spots (The Rental and The Visitor) were the primary mass advertising on National TV and CInema that helped contribute to Bell’s 2023 Internet success.
