Description

A good ad campaign needs a great track, so we created The Passengers - NZ’s biggest ever band - to make it, and making it became the campaign.

We turned the Ford Kuga into a recording booth, with video camera, and began a national audition caravan. We travelled the length of the country to cast real people who love to sing (and those who can’t). At each location the public were invited to add their bit to a rendition of Che Fu’s classic New Zealand track 'Fade Away', a number one hit of the early 90’s.

Execution

The public auditions were opened up to voting to find the best singers, with those at the top end being mixed and compiled into a final version of the song, created by editing those clips together.

35,000 kms travelled

90 hours of footage

1,056 real voices recorded and filmed.
