Description

A referee demonstrates his power in the ring with two heavy weight boxers.

Power from a less obvious place.

Execution

We always felt that Vegas was a good place to tell this story, it felt right for all the glitz, glamour and razzmatazz it has to offer with the big title fights. But for Production reasons it became easier to go to Romania and recreate Vegas.

The authenticity of the fight influenced a lot of the decision making, from the referee and the boxers, right down to the logo endorsements from Everlast, Lonsdale and the Hilton.

The cast are the real deal, it is essential that we have real fire from the boxers in order to have real intervention from the referee.

Our referee, Tony Weeks (USA) is an iconic figure in the world of boxing.

Steve Cunningham (USA) aka ‘The Hammer’ in the film, is a cruiserweight world champion.

BJ Flores (USA) aka ‘Sting Ray Martinez’ in the film, is a Cruiserweight ex-world champion.

If the action in the ring was real, it would create a ripple effect and everything else ringside would respond accordingly - The crowd, the press photographers even the bloke with the sponge. To add to the authenticity we cast real entourage and coaches from the Romanian boxing federation along with genuine sports photographers

and 2500 extras.

When you watch the film we felt you shouldn’t question the authenticity of the fight or the idea would somehow feel less powerful.
