Background
Due to the environment in the past two years, independent shops were facing difficulties in operating, many of them being forced to close.
In 2022, the financial brand Visa planned to launch a “Tap to phone” service specially designed for “independent shops”; however, the stores faced a recession.
Idea
#supportsmall: Broadcast effective ads for independent shops.
Visa decided to broadcast effective ads for independent stores along with promoting the “Tap to phone” service to help those who were seriously impacted by the environment. Call out everyone to #supportsmall!
Strategy
During our interview with the shops, we realized that over 50% of independent stores reduce their budget in marketing when facing operating difficulties and had a hard time maintaining daily operations.
Execution
We invited local independent stores and businesses to shoot a “Tap to phone” ad and broadcast it on popular ad slots to increase exposure.
Before the event launched, we asked for recommendations on Facebook and many influencers and fans commented on the independent shops they support to increase their visibility.
Meanwhile, in offline channels, foody and lifestyle influencers visited the stores in person and shared the “Tap to phone” experience on social media; as a result, consumers and shops had further interest in the service and it took the storm.
Outcome
• During the event, 9.6 million engagement was made and surpassed 83 million exposures.
• Earned media value was three times higher than expected, and consumers also had higher recognition of the service.
• During the event, transactions of the “tap to phone” service had a growth of 50%.
• Nearly 90% of stores claimed that the service had a direct impact on increasing sales.
