Execution
The fun of Cedar Fair’s parks needed to be obvious, but secondary to the questions our visitors were likely coming to answer in the first place. So we designed a seamless site with a clear hierarchy of information, but also one that brings fun to life. Throughout, the user triggers the movement of coasters and water slides as they scroll through the page and clouds shift subtly through blue skies, bringing a sense of being in the moment on a ride on a perfect day at the park.
Outcome
Cedar Fair started actually telling people that they had a corporate website.
Strategy
Cedar Fair is the proud parent company of amusement parks across the US and Canada, but they were ashamed of their own corporate website. It was old, outdated, and they didn’t even want to send anyone to it. The site is hugely important though, since it’s searched by everyone from prospective employees looking to deep-fry funnel cakes for the summer to potential investors. Because of these diverse visitors, they needed to strike that fine balance between business and fun. They wanted to demonstrate that they are serious about fun. And what could do that better than hard cold numbers? Numbers with the occasional coaster flying through them, that’s what.
