OVERVIEW

BriefExplanation

The streets of our capital are notorious for their chaos, it's a concrete jungle. Try to describe it to anyone and you will feel how challenging that is, seldom does it make sense. Streets with no names, streets with changing names and streets that are streets in name only. Berlin street, Beirut street, all in Egypt. To manifest the brand point of view, a verbal navigation took the viewer on a street-focused visual journey film. Traveling through the streets of urban Egypt from a perspective never seen before in Egypt, from up high – aerial to down low in tight alleyways, showing the magnitude of the concrete jungle, we navigate through – everyday but from a brand-new perspective. A film that needs to be viewed more than once to grasp the details that is Egypt’s streets.

Careem Harseen Subtitles:

Start your ride.

But listen up.

This is something you’ve never heard before.

A thousand houses, one address.

And a thousand ways to get there.

At the end of the road, a turn and then train tracks.

6th of October bridge isn’t in 6th of October City.

Beirut street isn’t in Lebanon.

But Berlin street is in Zamalek.

Traffic light after traffic light.

Traffic jams in empty roads.

Turn right.

“Esraa el Me’alemeen” or “Estraa el Mohandiseen”?

It doesn’t really matter.

They’re all buildings and addresses on a map,

all lined up.

Either way, take the bridge.

If it’s stuck, take the tunnel.

Turn on the light.

El Obour Buildings aren’t in Obour City.

Are you lost yet? Stick with me.

You’ll U-turn and hit a traffic light, with a million beeps.

The widest street narrows.

Just around the corner, a winding road, with an alley at the end of it.

An unnatural miracle, but it flows naturally

Go with it

Streets in places they don’t belong

If you stumble upon it, you won’t know it’s name

And on your way, you’ll meet lots of people

Salah, Ahmed, Shehab, Kholousy, Aboud and Nahas

And they’ll all tell you the same thing,

The street has it’s own language,

And to understand it, you have to be from there.

If you’re not from here, you won’t get around like we do.

Careem, Cairo’s streets are ours
