The visuals for this particular animation are very different from the animations we see.

Each character was created with details to make them unique, lovable, quirky and as if the gagdet were very much connected and part of them. There’s a careful way to animate the characters and elements so that they look like they are “swimming” and moving in water and not just floating. Having the bright neon colors light up the characters and also the environment, stand out to the viewer’s eye, making this a fun, beautiful animation.

Tell the jury the animation used and summarise any relevant challenges or techniques.

This animation was created 100% in CGI, so from character concept, to modeling, lookdev, rigging, animation, render and composition, it was all done from scratch.

We had 3 big challenges:

1. Create the funny looking, quirky and unique characters and make sure their gadgets had relevance to each.

2. Bring the neon bright colors to life. Besides working on the characters, we had to be mindful of how the surroundings/environments we affected by their bright characteristic, so that the integration between animals, gadgets and environment was perfect.

3. We had to be careful when creating the animation so that the viewer really had the sense that it all happened under the sea, simulating water. Characters needed to look like they were swimming, so we were very detailed with each animal movement, to not look fake or as if they were just floating.
