OVERVIEW

EntrySummary

The Incan textiles are a Peruvian cultural icon in danger of extinction due to the lack of articulated markets. This textiles are one of the most ancient traditions in the Peruvian Andes, they were develop during the Incan empire and used to represent gods, animals and the way of life that they had.

At the present time, Incan textiles are made by only 4 artisan communities from Cusco. They have to struggle through poverty and the advance of the industrial textile that makes the traditional way to make textiles disappear. This communities have to earn money doing other activities, fact that make this tradition faint.

Cusquena, the Peruvian premium beer and an advocate for national culture, can’t let this tradition disappear. That’s why the brand and the 4 communities create together the The first handmade weaved Inca billboard, following the traditional techniques of their ancestors to get the country’s attention.
