Effectiveness

The sensor boards are part of a campaign that has met with unprecedented success. It’s attributed with convincing 84,000 additional households across the province that they should be doing more to conserve electricity.

Execution

BC Hydro demonstrated that they practice what they preach by creating a series of motion activated backlit posters that only used electricity when people were around to see them.

Strategy

Power Smart is a branch of BC Hydro, the electric utility of British Columbia. Its goal is to encourage power conservation and educate the public on the importance of not wasting electricity. BC Hydro wanted to encourage people to be smart with their power. They didn't want them to stop using electricity. They just wanted to remind people not to waste it, and only use as much as they need. So we built ads that only used electricity when people were around to see them.
