Transparent Seas is an interactive mural that uses light and color to transform the artwork as its viewers pass by.
Execution
In collaboration with renowned artist Jason Levesque, we created a 40’ street art piece in Norfolk, Virginia’s NEON arts district, where color and light are brightening a once-overlooked neighborhood.
As colored lights illuminate the mural, the artwork reveals elements of earth, sea, and air across a group of female figures—the artist’s statement on the connection between the world and the human body. While the mural is designed to come to life at night, the composition during the day is just as beautiful and worthy of its own visit.
Pushing the limits of traditional illustration, Transparent Seas is a unique experience from afar and up close. Lighting shifts in real time and in response to the movement of onlookers. Each color change reveals new elements of earth, sea, and air within the mural’s four female figures—the artist’s statement on the connection between the world and the human body.
