We created an app for iOS and Android. With a tailor made admin tool, our live editors sent out questions directly to all app users, following every twist and turn in the fast paced games. This gave user the possibility to show off their hockey skills by trying to foresee game events, answering quiz question, having opinions about the game development and communicating directly with the popular TV-hosts.
The users were collecting points and competing both against their Facebook friends and other players, trying for top user in a single games, but also to become the world cup champion!
To make things even more interactive, feedback from the users was used as content in the live broadcast, creating a direct link between the fans at home and the commentators in the arena.
Outcome
+ 100 000 downloads, making it the most successful second screen solution ever in Sweden.

2,7 million questions were answered during the tournament
The app was featured by Apple in AppStore
The success in 2013 led to that TV4 decided to run the same concept during the 2014 World Cup of Ice Hockey
Strategy
The World Cup of Ice Hockey is Sweden’s biggest annual sports tournament – with almost half the population watching single games. Aware of TV viewers’ constantly increasing multitasking behaviour, TV4 wanted to interact, inspire and entertain the spectators on a new level, and to offer advertisers a new, direct and engaging platform for communication.
