Description
Face speaks. By just looking at a person’s face, it gives you a sense of their personality and life history. We developed a next generation career matching tool, namely "ADMAN DNA", for our job applicants-to-be. Users accessing the site would have their face compared to the 9 average faces, each represents a different profession, before being matched to the one most alike. Users were then provided with more information about such profession.
Execution
Uploaded photos of face were being transformed into 3D polygons so as to portray the theme of "DNA". Face recognition technologies were adopted in the back-end environment to extract coordinates of eyes, mouth and nose. These coordinates were calculated using the Delaunay triangulation algorithm before transforming into around 2,000 triangular polygons. Data of the polygons were then being brought back to the front-end environment, drawn as SVG shapes with the Data-Driven Documents (d3.js) technology and animated using CSS3 animation.
Outcome
Over 800,000 page views were recorded in the 6-month period with over 100,000 users. These participants generated viral effects on the social media, which eventually became a topic in offline media featuring over 35 media exposures in total.
