Description
Through hard work and adversity, through imagination and creativity, through persuasion and loyalty, the Dodge brothers accomplished what others viewed as unattainable. It was said they were unsuited for their time, but that’s because they were ahead of it.
Execution
The casting of Noam Murro’s Dodge “Ahead of Their Time” commercial involved an
extensive search to find the right actors to bring the cast of complex characters to life.
To start the process, a detailed casting brief was written by the agency after they conducted thorough research about the Dodge Brothers and their families
and business associates.
Casting for the two main characters, John and Horace Dodge, was indeed a challenge.
The script is set in 1920’s Detroit. The actors who played John and Horace needed to
have a period look, be excellent actors, have chemistry with each other and look similar
enough that they be believable as brothers. Over 350 actors attended auditions for these
two roles.
The search was held solely in Los Angeles, where a wide net was cast over the entire LA
acting community. Noam’s casting director, Ross Lacy, widened his usual search of TV
and film actors to include theater and improve actors as well as non-union up- andcomers.
For the key supporting roles, excellent acting ability and a period look were again crucial
factors.
Total number of actors that attended our casting sessions for Dodge “Ahead of Their
Time”: 1142.
