100,000 drains were distributed to households over 46 municipalities in some of the country’s most impoverished and secluded regions. Through a strategic partnership, enabling local community officials to educate and distribute the target drains; SOS Mata Atlantica was able to reach out to an audience, considered unreachable.A survey conducted 5 months after the initiative, has showed that over 60% of those interviewed had knowledge of SOS Mata Atlantica’s campaign and its message. 24% of those interviewed claimed that they have adopted the practice of peeing in the shower as a means to reduce save water.
