Execution
One of the most exciting moments when driving a sports car is turning a corner with absolute precision and perfect control. If such a moment can be captured and recorded, the driver can relive that moment again and again.
Two places where sports car fans love driving are on circuits and winding roads.
Eighty-six cameras were installed at specific points where they could automatically capture all angles when the driver of the Toyota86 drove through corners.
The driver received the photos taken from all 86 angles and a time-slice movie of the driver as the Toyota86 turns into corners.
Outcome
1. This unique service became headline news that is worth about $3.15m in advertising.
2. Despite the participation fee ($100), we received more than three times the required number of requests. At every corner, there was a long queue of Toyota 86 sports vehicles waiting for this service.
3. The participating Toyota 86 owners became advertising media. The stylish motion pictures and photos taken by the system were disseminated on the Internet, creating an even bigger advertising effect.
4. For the first time in its history, Toyota was ranked as the number one sports car maker in Japan.
