OVERVIEW

Description

No matter how crazy the idea, GoDaddy supports small businesses and helps them succeed.

This particular microsite, CatswithHats.com highlights Johanna’s online business — a business owned by a woman who, despite being told she’s crazy for trying, has defied the odds and launched her business. On the site, you can watch a 2-minute film about Johanna’s journey (an intentional black comedy told in documentary style). You can explore the range of hats she has created for cats, as well as upload pictures of your own beloved cat to try them on, and explore the range of GoDaddy tools and services that have helped her business succeed.

Cats with Hats is an outlandish, fictional business (and this disclaimer is present) but it’s used to demonstrate the importance of a web presence, online functionality and showcase the range of products and tools that GoDaddy have on offer for all small businesses.

Execution

Developing a digital experience would allow small business owners to engage with the GoDaddy brand and explore what a GoDaddy web presence can do for businesses.

CatswithHats.com launched on April 11th 2016. It was purposefully designed as a microsite in order to demonstrate what a GoDaddy website could look like, and showcase potential functionality, such as an online store.

The microsite had direct links to the main GoDaddy website in order to migrate those interested in finding out more information.

Outcome

At the time of entry, the microsite had only just launched but was already experiencing outstanding results. Visitors to CatswithHats.com were spending significant amounts of time on site, with the average interaction being more than three minutes. And the majority of visitors were interacting with different elements — “shopping” for hats, and “trying them on” their own cats. In fact, more than 12,000 people had used the Chapeauser, and daily visits to the site were around 4,000.
