OVERVIEW

Background

The team enlisted the upcoming director to assemble a diverse cast, each bringing their own individual flavour and style to the film, ranging from inexperienced dancers to breakdancers and trained ballerinas. The ensemble portrayed characters in a local ballet class, choreographed by Sherrie Silver, who created the bold and quirky dance moves. The ad, enhanced by infectious tracks Kitipo by Dixson Waz x La Tukiti (feat Amenazandel) and "Boom Shaka" by Muzi, highlights Deezer's commitment to supporting emerging talents from across the world and fostering a vibrant musical scene.

The aim was to show Deezer's commitment to diversity and inclusivity, mark the viewer's attention to their new visual identity & new features, while reaching a broad audience with a light yet striking advertising.

Execution

To bring the ad to life, the director was tasked to find a diverse cast each bringing their own individual flavour and style to the film. The cast featured dancers with almost no experience to breakdancers to classically trained ballerinas, all thrown together to play their part in a local neighborhood ballet class.

British choreographer Sherrie Silver created the infectious dances and worked with the cast to execute bold and quirky dance moves, training with the cast beforehand.

She has previously collaborated with Grammy Winner Childish Gambino for his “This Is America” music video.
