Description

As a man is told he has cancer, his world becomes muffled and inaudible, incomprehensible. As he leaves the doctor's office we see his isolated figure walking down the corridor, he begins to fall to the floor as the world rushes back in slow motion. We see others falling in dramatic slow motion, a young girl tumbles from a climbing frame. A woman in a supermarket falls backwards scattering her shopping, and an office worker falls forward through the open doors of a lift, their faces blank and uncomprehending. In a series of poignant and instinctive gestures, each victim is caught by a bystander in dramatic slow motion, breaking their fall. The man in hospital is caught by a Macmillan nurse, beautifully capturing the moment when the viewer understands that no one should face cancer alone.

Execution

The visual effects were all in camera using a high speed Phantom Camera. The actors fall backwards in to crash pads which we then painted out in post.
