Description
Mid-Tokyo maps use interactive maps that take advantage of the expressive potential of the internet to communicate city-related information in an easy-to-comprehend way. New maps, each one themed around central Tokyo, open twice a month online. The various topics - history, world city comparisons, urban appeal, lifestyles, community developments etc, are presented in a series that explores Tokyo from different perspectives, inviting viewers to join us in rediscovering the city, its problems and its potential. The site is structured as a top page, a map page, and an information page. The top page captures the viewer's interest, enticing them to proceed deeper into the site. On the map page, the user learns experimentally while manipulating the interface. The information page provides a significant volume of detailed reference material that even city planners would find educational. The experiential cognition of the map page in conjunction with the introspective cognition of the info page are designed to be deeply educational for the layperson. Mid-Tokyo Maps make city planning (normally considered a specialised field) fun and accessible to the layperson, while remaining an informative resource for the professional. It hopes to inspire all of its viewers to consider new ideas about urban living in the 21st century.
