We scoured the LA area for non-traditional moms with stories of transformative love. It was a tall order. We quickly realized we weren’t casting for a type, but an honest emotional truth.
Cara stood out to us because of her vulnerability. In her interview, she shared the story of Mia’s birth and how the doctor handed Cara her baby and said, “I’m so sorry.” She was honest with her doubts and struggles, but positive in her outlook. And when we met Mia, we were captivated by her attitude and humor. The story thrived on the combination of Cara’s heart and Mia’s spirit. The entire family came together to embody the result of unconditional love in the face of adversity. Since the spot aired other brands have recognized Mia’s charisma, casting her in commercials and fashion shoots, leading to further success as an advocate for the celebration of kids like her.
