Description

Volvo is launching low emission engines to all of their cars. Together with Robyn, who spends a lot of time in one of the world’s populous cities in terms of cars, we made this film about enjoying the world — but keeping it too.

It portrays Robyn's Los Angeles, but also her summer home in Sweden. This is her thoughts about our lifestyle and what we leave behind.

All of it to the tune of the magnificent song Monument from Robyn's latest collaboration with Röyksopp.

Execution

Swedish pop star Robyn is known for making happy dance music. But this time she was about to release her first single with a much more serious sound and lyric.

The song was called Monument and in the song Robyn questions the way she lives. Can I enjoy the world without destroying it at the same time? A question that is really relevant to Volvo as well. Cars are a joy to drive, but can we keep enjoying our cars without destroying the world at the same time?

This campaign launches what could be a good balance between enjoying the world and keeping it at the same time - Volvo’s low emission engines.

Robyn’s song had it’s world premiere in our film, but only as an instrumental. To optimize the message we chose to let her talk about the subject in our film and sing about it in her single.

This way of working made our commercial into a music video for the single. And the single into a commercial for Volvo.
