Background

Wealthsimple wanted Canadians to know that their finances didn’t have to be stuck behind the curve. That, with Wealthsimple’s tools and resources they could optimize their investments and get their finances back on track. And above all, it wanted them to know that the problem wasn’t them, it was their money.

Execution

Martin Short totally nails in his performance during a Wealthsimple commercial shoot, inadvertently slacking his way into the perfect metaphor for what your money is doing when you’re not paying attention to your investments.

Outcome

Launching during the Grey Cup (Canadian Football’s Superbowl) and subsequently online, our spot earned a view-through rate 3 times higher than category benchmarks. We also received widespread coverage in Canadian sports publications and local news stations. Most importantly, despite continued inflation, the number of Canadians who described themselves as thriving increased by 6%.
