Background

Whether they do it for fun, sport, or just practical travel, over 2 billion cyclists worldwide make it the planet’s most popular participant sport. Cycling’s annual highpoint, Le Tour de France, attracts millions of spec-tators at the race, and billions of viewers on TV. This year, ŠKODA, the event’s long-time main sponsor, wanted to recognise everyone who makes cycling such a huge international family

Description

Because Skoda Auto supports everyone who loves cycling, our "The Vélo Family" TV commercial paid homage to the five most important for cycling characters that highlight inclusive and egalitarian spirit of the sport. We put them in the context of a light-hearted, beautifully animated race narrated by a voice-over stylized for vintage cartoon classics. In the end we see all of the characters to form an arrow shaped, aerodynamic peloton smoothly morphing into the Skoda logo.

Execution

The Vélo Family appeared in a TVC, in several TV idents, in three mini-documentaries, in personality tests, quizzes and online competitions and many more. The Vélo Family made Le Tour de France 2016 feel like a giant cycling family reunion.
