Description

NAVER needed a sophisticated design purpose that would link the 113 various services in order to satisfy different users. The design concept of ‘NAVER SQUARE’ is a ‘window that connects various internet experiences’. Through the ‘NAVER SQUARE Identity’ a new purpose for the mobile environment is emphasized so that it can be used as a design language that can be utilized within the actual service. The main focus for the concept is user experience leads to brand value.

Execution

-NAVER SQUARE Identity : As a ‘window that connects various internet experiences’, it creates a new value and purpose for the mobile environment, and also acts as a design language that is utilized within the actual service.

-UI : Starting with ‘NAVER SQUARE’, the grid system UI allows for easy access so that no matter what content is used, the service can be streamlined under a united concept without breaking away.

-Service logo : Used to distinguish separate services but also utilized in the UI in order to provide a streamlined and united user experience.

-Icon : A simple design that helps users to find the service they need quickly and easily.

-Square font : A display font was developed to be utilized easily in service logos. The characteristic straight line design is developed to maximize readability even on small mobile screens.

Outcome

-Following the PC internet age, NAVER is now a leading service in the mobile internet age as well.

-NAVER users are able to find the service they need quickly and easily.

-‘NAVER SQUARE Design’ is also utilized in internal service development, resulting in saving communication cost while helping development to proceed faster.

-NAVER SQUARE design elements are continuously published in the design site and blog, so anyone can learn the design knowledge of NAVER. The square font continues to receive acclaim by many users, incorporated and shared in many professional font developments and SNS.
