Description

The challenge of creating the mascot to represent the country that most loves football.

The process of bringing the Official 2014 FIFA World Cup MASCOT to life was just as important as establishing its unity and relevance. As a result, with a view at giving continuity and consistency to the Official 2014 FIFA World Cup MASCOTE design (please refer to board 3), 3D Model and Rigged Model were developed to bring Fuleco to life and give him lots of personality.

Execution

That gave rise to over 100 animations, depicting all swing and personality of our unique, ball-rolling mascot. Animations show both Brazilian culture and the Mascot’s ability to represent the different nationalities involved in that Global event. He dances to Brazilian rhythms such as samba, capoeira, maracatu, frevo, just as well as international beats, such as Salsa, Cossack and Break. He plays typical Brazilian instruments such as berimbau, tambourine, Afoxé and Surdo; he mimics iconic routines like Moonwalk and Pulp Fiction, just like stunts, dribbling and celebrations immortalized by world famous players.

Outcome

The Mascot was the favourite in ressarch amongst kids. Design was effective enough for a wide range of versatile applications, assuring performance as products and licensing for consumers. The mascot was officially launched as part of Brazilian broadcaster TV Globo’s weekly Fantástico entertainment show, where he was welcomed by Brazilian football legend and member of the LOC Management Board, Ronaldo.
