Description

In a dingy and bare warehouse hangs the Amarok’s new V6, suspended from the ceiling by heavy chains. As the camera pans around the lifeless machine, we notice a pack of dire wolves observing the scene cautiously from the shadows. Finally the engine springs to life, breaking its chains. As the motor rumbles, the Amarok’s body flows out of it as pure energy, ultimately forming the rest of the car.

Execution

We quickly discovered that a proper translation of this machines power to the screen required a full CG execution. Accordingly, we cooperated with selected agencies to build everything, from the masculine industrial setting, to the non-static elements like the wolves and of course the engine itself completely in 3D with 60 camera layouts, 30 full CG animated shots and over 15.000 hours of rendertime in total. This let us retain a certain dreamlike quality throughout the spot and allowed seamless integration of both the wolf pack and the issue of energy that ultimately forms the Amarok.
