Most people visit a solicitor to arrange their will. Knowing that they would happily consider leaving a gift if they knew they could, our solution was to simply remind them at the moment immediately before they speak to their solicitor.So we placed a small ambient message in the reception area of solicitors offices. Encouraging people to simply ask there solicitor about leaving a gift.
Outcome
Wills are very personal and private documents. So it is very difficult to get actual facts and figure. Although when we spoke to solicitors they confirmed that more people had asked about leaving a gift in their will since we started the campaign.In addition there is no immediate return on our investment as most people arrange a will 20 years before they die. However the average value of gifts left in wills is £18,500. So if just one person leaves money as a result of asking their solicitor about doing so, it will give us a return of 925:1
