Description

-The DJ phenomenon is unstoppable today.

DJs are everywhere, at every party and every event.

They steal the scene from rock bands and live music.

They replace electric guitars with their synthetic sounds.

MP3 tracks which, noise by noise, kill real music made by real instruments played by real musicians.

But rock isn’t just going to sit back and let it happen.

Rock’n’roll is ready to invoke its anathema.

Intentionally provocative images against everyone who thinks they can make music and engage with the masses without any musical expertise but merely by using other people’s files.

The images in the film push the iconography to its limits of the perverse, desperate and illusory existence of people from the “synthetic” world. The sequences alternate rapidly, portraying objects, people and parodies of artificially lived lives.

In counterpoint, a text recited like a sermon invokes an anathema in defence of the expertise and deserved fame of people who play real instruments and make real music.

Execution

We just put the video online and quickly became viral.

Outcome

Only a few minutes after going online, the video sparked fierce debate.

The most authoritative EDM magazines wrote online articles and reviews.

After just one week, the commercial was the most discussed and frequently mentioned in Brazil.

In Europe, the famous German DJ Loco Dice tweeted about the video, inciting his fans.

Other DJs have created ad hoc videos about it, trying to encourage collaboration between the two sides.

Still others have used the video’s sound and video tracks to create remixed versions, like the one by famous New York DJ Jess Marquez: the absurdity is that thousands of people are now dancing to the electronic notes of Rockers vs DJs.

Three months after going on air, “Rockers vs DJs” is still one of the most discussed and criticised subjects in electronic dance music.
