OVERVIEW

Description

To experience the performance of the new Continental tire in a personal and surprising way, an online ad with Facebook Connect was created. First the user takes the seat behind the wheel of a sporty car. As he drives on a winded road on the countryside in first-person perspective, suddenly a tractor drives onto the street. In this moment of shock the user literally sees his life flashing before his eyes, when his own Facebook photos and data show up. Due to the ideal braking effect of the tire, a collision can be prevented.

Execution

The creative idea consists of a moment that only few users may have experienced themselves while driving a car, although most are aware of it: The surprising moment of shock before an accident happens. The moment when images of your life literally flash by before your eyes. In this ad this situation becomes reality for every web user with a Facebook account with all their personal data, photos and videos popping up. To demonstrate how quickly such an accident can happen and how important the right choice of tires is. Of course everything ends well thanks to Continental tires.

Outcome

Online ads usually don’t work very well in terms of click rates. In this case the average value for Continental (about 0.8%) could be multiplied by 15 (12%). Thus the ad can be called a success in terms of brand awareness and brand image since so many users were successfully directed to Continental’s corporate website through this unique online ad.
