Description

With over 2.7 million hits on Youtube in a few weeks, India was introduced to its first voter, Mr. Shyam Sharan Negi, aged 97.

When we first read this inspiring script about Mr. Negi, it struck a chord within us. Highly motivated and excited, the team embarked on a tedious 15 hour journey through the Himalayas to meet the living legend.

Upon reaching Kalpa, the hometown of Mr. Negi, we were welcomed by a frail old man who was barely able to see. Our greatest challenge lay in making Mr. Negi act and recreate his historic journey.

After spending numerous days with Mr. Negi in subzero temperatures, we slowly familiarized him with the art of performing naturally. With careful and precise directions in facial muscle and body movements, we were able to enthuse his Zygomaticus Majors and Risoris, helping him deliver key emotions.

The film has been directed such that it unfolds itself with the journey of the man. For most of the film, Mr. Negi comes across as a person on his way to accomplishing something big. It is only in the end, through the man’s memorable and overwhelmed reaction, do we realize the magnitude of his fete.
