Description

Nissan is a brand that stands for excitement, so, with all eyes on us, we hatched a plan to hijack our own precious cargo.

The stunt took place during a Facebook Live event in which we seamlessly integrated a pre-recorded film into the live stream showing the trophy being driven to the wrong stadium.

Then, in a race against the clock, and using our range of supercars and Crossovers, we went on an epic journey across Cardiff to deliver the trophy to the correct stadium.

A final shot saw the previously unreleased 2017 X-Trail, with the trophy inside, being airlifted by helicopter into the Principality Stadium. We literally launched Nissan’s new 4x4 model.

This Facebook Live hijack was a world’s first (going against Facebook’s own policy) and due to our meticulous production process, its authenticity has left fans genuinely wondering about its authenticity.

Execution

The pre-recorded part of the campaign as been shoot a week before the Final in Cardiff following the potential Trophy journeys provided by UEFA.

We then had a live studio in Cardiff, at the Fan Festival, to shoot live broadcast some football legends interviews and then the start of the convoy and then we switched the live broadcast to the pre-recorded broadcast after a couple of minutes.

The aim was to have a seamless broadcast throughout the session – we then had to closely work with UEFA, Goal.com and Facebook – though the whole broadcast has been completely handled at TBWA.

The Live broadcast was teased about a couple of days before on Facebook (Nissan channels, UEFA and Goal.com)
