Description

Smiles was a mileage program that only travels to destinations in Brazil. Currently, it has partners flying to over 160 countries worldwide destinations. It needed to show that it knows about travelling like no one, in an innovative way, and completely different from the competitors. We created a content that instigated and intensified trips, Smiles main business for their customers. For this, we used a content that no competitor had already used: a book. We created the TRIP BOOK SMILES, the first book whose story travels with the reader.

Execution

We have developed a new platform for writers creating stories based on reader's geolocation. This platform consists of a device e-reader customized with GPS, an app for Android and iOS tablets and a BackOffice for writers (TRIP ePUB).

We took about a year to create a special device for this activation. This book was made simulating a paper book and even the art of its cover changes depending on where the player is. Through a iOS and Android app, available for free for tablets, anyone could live the experience.

TRIP ePUB: It is the platform developed for writers creating their books based on geolocation. Here the writer sends their stories and define the cities where it can take place as well the variables that changes depending on the location. The variables, such as hotels,restaurants and temperature, are updated by APIs from services like TripAdvisor, Yelp, Weather Channel and Google Maps.

Outcome

TRIP BOOK SMILES had repercussions worldwide, both in the trade as major media, specially in travel blogs and technology. Thus, Smiles has positioned itself as an innovative and cultural brand awareness. In addition to that, the download rate and the request for the physical unit were higher than expected. Until now, Smiles has increased 30% the airline tickets emission.
