Warsaw drivers got used to the fact that getting to IKEA stores was taking a lot of time on workdays. Using Google Maps and IKEA cabinets, we decided to prove otherwise. The estimated time arrival to IKEA store was displayed on dedicated billboard installations called KALLAX Real Timer. The timer was built from one of the most functional pieces of IKEA furniture – KALLAX cabinet and LEKMAN boxes.

MediaStrategy

After checking with Google Maps the time needed to get to IKEA, we displayed it at KALLAX Real Timer. Two big cabinets on each billboard gave us a huge place to show information and make it visible even from a long distance. By filling KALLAX shelves with LEKMAN boxes we created a timer showing the expected arrival time. The time was constantly updating by our IKEA crews.

Outcome

A ten day-long KALLAX Real Timer operation increased the number of customers by 9.5% in both WARSAW IKEA STORES.

Relevancy

We used Google Maps Data to estimate real time needed to get to IKEA stores in Warsaw. We displayed the time with ongoing updates on specially constructed billboards called KALLAX Real Timers.

Strategy

KALLAX Real Timers were built in strategic locations at most crowded crossroads in Warsaw. Places that drivers are passing by day after day from home to work and back. We were checking driving time from these points to the nearest IKEA store and constantly changed it on our KALLAX Real Timers.

Synopsis

People were afraid to visit IKEA stores in Warsaw during workdays, because they thought it would take a lot of time in traffic. Such thinking was the result of poor road communication to both stores. Renovation of the roads leading to IKEA was finally over but bad opinion stayed the same. Our objective was to win attention of Warsaw drivers and inform them that they could can get to IKEA stores in a shorter time than ever.
