BriefExplanation
Our Film is a story of a micro family who have recently moved to a new home, at one of those new isolated neighborhoods. The father feeling guilty about stranding his wife and Kid, he is trying to rest the waters with his family, yet the wife is furious given that their new home is not connected to any household services (pharmacy, garbage truck, supermarket, etc).
Nonetheless, despite being at the other end of the world and understanding that there are no services being able to reach this family; the only service that is available is internet. We can clearly see that each family member is using their gadgets through the WIFI connection, whether on a tablet, mobile or playing online gaming. Showcasing that despite not being connected to any household service, you’ll have internet connection.
EntrySummary
With the increase of population and marriage rate in Egypt, a lot of new neighborhoods are being constructed outside the city. And despite being not fully connected to basic services, couples and micro families do move to these areas due to lack of choices. Moreover, these areas are facing an internet connection problem due to lack of infrastructure that enables you to have an ADSL installed.
Solution
The director made a lot of mood for our film, he actually created a commercial that feels like it’s a scene in a film vs. any regular ad. Think the kind of comedy from the “Coen Brothers”. He took into a dark type of comedy with understated performances, in a world that seems to be normal, but it’s far from normality. The production design (i.e location, art direction and colors) was an integral part, in addition to the actors. the above pillars were extremely challenging as for the location for example, he had to pick whether shoot during day light or night and each one had its pro’s and con’s; ending up at night given the dark creepiness mood that was required along with the art direction that had to be giving the feeling of the lonesome life.
